Your order for a wedding cake is secured upon receipt of a 25% non refundable booking fee. Your order is not held or confirmed until this is paid. The balance is due 28 days before the cake is due to be collected/delivered.
Your order for a celebration cake is secured upon receipt of a 50% non refundable booking fee. Your order is not held or confirmed until this is paid. The balance is due 14 days before the cake is due to be collected/delivered.
Work on the cake will not be started until the balance is paid. Late payment may defer work on your cake and jeopardise your final design. Payment can be made via BACS (preferred) or a debit/credit card (this will incur fees for me). Corporate customers will receive an invoice. Carefully check your order form as this is what is used to make your cake.
If you wish to cancel your order please inform me as soon as possible via phone, text or whatsapp. You will receive a message in return confirming your cancellation to check that it is you who has cancelled the order. It is your responsibility to ensure you receive an acknowledgement from me about your cancellation in case I have not received your initial message. Monies paid are non refundable if you cancel within 14 days for celebration cakes or 28 days for wedding cakes. It may be possible to use payment against a future cake order if no work has begun on your cake, or I have not turned orders away in order to take your order on. If it is I that has to cancel your cake due to illness etc. then you will be offered a full refund or allow me to arrange for your cake to be made via a trusted third party at no extra cost to you. Please note that I have a network of cake making friends who I can call upon for help should this ever occur, this will be discussed with you at the time. I have never let anyone down to date.
No amendments are permitted within 7 days of the cake due date for celebration cakes or 14 days for wedding cakes. This is because work may have already begun on your cake and/or items will have been specifically ordered. I have been using the same process for many years and I find being organised ahead of time is the best policy and is fair to me and all my customers.
It is your responsibility to inform me about any allergies. These will be written on your order form. By default, all sponges are regular sponges and not gluten free or eggless. All our cakes are made in an environment that contain all the 14 allergens because they are present in different products. We therefore cannot guarantee there will be no traces of these allergens. An allergen sheet will be issued with your cake.
Whilst I offer a delivery service, you should not place your order based on the fact I may be able to deliver. I have not yet let anyone down in the 10 years I have been making cakes, but in the event that I am not able to deliver, you will be offered the delivery fee back. Delivery rates are calculated at £1 per mile one way. I deliver within a 10 miles radius (and further afield for wedding cakes). I am not always able to offer delivery on any day of the week, this will depend on my schedule. I require a delivery time frame window as I cannot be exactly specific with a delivery time and cannot be held responsible for lateness due to unavoidable circumstances.
I will arrange a collection time with you. If you are running late, please call ahead to inform me that you will be late as I will be waiting for you to arrive at the arranged time. Upon collection, it is your opportunity to fully inspect the cake before taking it away. This is the time to mention any issues so I can correct or put it right. I accept no responsibility for the cake after it has left my premises. Cakes should be transported on a flat surface e.g. the boot.
CAKE STAND HIRE
When you have hired a cake stand from me you are responsible for its safe return on the date arranged. The deposit held will not be returned to you until the stand is returned undamaged. For cupcake towers – these are not hired they are purchased by you at the time of ordering and therefore belong to you.
CAKE STORAGE, CUTTING AND SHELF LIFE
All cakes should be stored in their box on a flat surface, not in the fridge. Sponge cakes covered in fondant will last for around 5 days or more, buttercream covered cakes and cupcakes should ideally be eaten within 3 to 4 days. Fruit cakes last for months. All fruit cakes should be cut with a sharp straight edged knife. I use a reputable supplier of fruit cakes and have done so for 10 years. Any issues they’ve had with cutting has always been knife related so make sure you use the correct knife. The portions quoted are industry standard size of 2″ x 1″ x height of cake and is cut in strips across the cake not pie shaped pieces.
PHOTOS OF CAKES
When you provide photos of cake ideas, I aim to replicate your ideas but will not guarantee an exact replica of someone else’s work. I take photos of all cakes and may use them on this website and social media after the event. If you do not wish me to use the photo please advise in writing at the time of ordering.
Complaints are extremely rare and I take them very seriously. Where possible you will receive a photo of your cake before it is collected/delivered. Changes required outside of the agreed design at the point of order may or may not be possible and subject to an additional charge. You are required to give me the opportunity to rectify any errors but I am not responsible for any errors made by the customer. Some complaints may require further investigation and you may be required to produce the cake for inspection. The maximum refund I offer is the cost of the cake, providing the cake has been returned. Further compensation is not available.
